Coolgardie
The main street is still wide enough for a camel train to turn around and is lined with imposing 19th century buildings.
Housed in the historic two storey Wardens Court Building (built 1898). Each room features fascinating displays telling the dramatic and tragic story of life in and around Coolgardie.
A brilliant collection of photographs, models and authentic equipment with a free daily screening of the BBC film “Gold Fever”.
In 1907 Modesto Varischetti found himself trapped in an air pocket after a flashflood out at Bonnievale and was trapped for nine days in darkness. To rescue him deep sea divers were used to navigate the flooded mine. This amazing story is now being told with a brand new display housed in the Goldfields Exhibition Building.
A beautiful old house built in 1895 of local stone for the first Mining Warden and Resident Magistrate, John Michael Finnerty.
Restored by the National Trust, enjoy a walk through the rooms and capture the feeling of life in the late 1890’s.
