History:
In 1866, the Cloncurry River was named by Burke of Burke & Wills fame, for his cousin Lady Elizabeth Cloncurry of County Galway in Ireland. In 1867 Ernest Henry came along looking for grazing land and named the town Cloncurry after the river.
